DATE WITH THE DALAI

'Date With The Dalai' is a travel special for ITV which aired in September 2006.

Footballers wives, Zoe Lucker and Sarah Barrand set off on a journey of spiritual enlightenment to meet the Dalai Lama. Although India was a complete change from their usual lives, they loved every minute.
The trip was documented for a two-part ITV show that is a far cry from Footballers' Wives, as the pair participate in a number of bizarre rituals in their quest for spiritual enlightenment, including being buried neck-deep in sand by a naked shamen, walking barefoot among 10,000 rodents at the Rat Temple of Deshnoke and witnessing fire-walking and an open- air cremation.

The trip was, Zoe says, life-changing. "It is about taking the focus away from yourself," she said. "Essentially, it comes from the people I met - people who have nothing, but who are constantly smiling. It's very humbling."
