THEN COMES LOVE
A nice pair of nasty TV villains
(by Stuff National News New Zealand. July 31, 2004)

Visitors to Auckland's Viaduct Basin could be forgiven for double-taking yesterday as two small-screen villains met for coffee.

Like their on-screen characters, Shane Cortese and Zoe Lucker were planning world domination, but of the theatrical variety. Their stage production, Then Comes Love, starts a national tour with its premiere in Napier next month, and both believe the production has the potential to be an international success.

The pair, best known for their roles as Shortland Street's murderous psychopath Dom and Footballers' Wives' scheming harridan Tanya Turner, are welcoming the chance to perform in very different roles. "We're both murdering, evil characters, playing someone completely different," said Cortese. "We were running through our kill list."
The pair bonded on Friday by hitting the town and appeared to be getting along well - a relief as they will be living in each other's pockets over the next three weeks of rehearsals and five weeks of performances of the locally written production.

Cortese teased Lucker that the producers were eagerly awaiting her attempts at a Kiwi accent. "When I got the part I panicked on how now I'm going to do a New Zealand accent in New Zealand," Lucker said.

Cortese, runner-up in the recent hit show Dancing With the Stars, has separated from partner Claire Stanley. He and dance partner Nerida Lister steamed up the screens with their sexy dances, prompting romantic speculation, but the pair said they were just friends.
